Was firing up iPhoto today when it hung up on me. Closed the application and restarted only to be greeted with "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it." Clicking okay shuts down iPhoto. A quick browse on Google suggested starting iPhoto with the Command and Option keys held down. This should have started the Photo Library First Aid tool to repair the library permissions.
